Teaching Students to SOAR through Learning!

Welcome Parents!

I am so grateful to have each of your incredible children in my classroom! It is my goal to keep you up to date and involved in what we are doing each week in the classroom. I welcome and encourage your involvement in our class! If you have any questions, I am only a phone call or email away. I hope this website will be a resource that you can turn to help you feel more involved in our classroom.

As a teacher and busy mother of 5, I completely relate to how crazy life can feel just getting the basic necessities accomplished each day. You know what works best for your lifestyle at this moment. We are all in different seasons of our lives, so please don't feel like anything I send out needs to become one more burden on your to-do list. This is one of the biggest reasons I choose not to do homework. We are in this Together. The number one priority is your Child and helping give them what they need to be successful.

If you have the time and would like to help out in the classroom, or even prepare items from your home, I would welcome any parental involvement with open arms. My one request is that no matter how busy you are, you do your best to make time to read with your child. Practice reading signs you are driving, or read labels while shopping and driving around. Read stories together before bed each night, or have your child read to a sibling or pet. The more practice a student has at reading the more familiar the words become, and the broader their vocabulary. Even in the busiest of schedules, there is time for reading!

When you take just a few minutes each day to ask your student about their day and what they are learning at school, you are showing your child that their education is a priority and that you care. By talking with them and reading with them, you help them to see the value in their education, and it will last them a lifetime!
We are in this together, and together we can make real change in our children and in their future.

About me

Hello Everyone! My name is Mandy Jensen. I have a Master's Degree in Education. My husband and I have 5 amazing kids and two adorable Schnauzers. After spending years in my children's own classrooms, teaching story time, and organizing playdates, I decided it was time to take the plunge and go back to school to become a teacher myself, and you know what? I LOVE IT! There is nothing more satisfying to me than to see a child learn something new and feel confident in themselves. I feel like my classroom is my home away from home. There is no place else I would rather be, and I hope my students feel the same.

I have 2 children who have Autism Spectrum Disorder, and another who has struggled with depression and anxiety. I know from personal experience how tricky it can be to navigate school and life with a child who needs extra support. All children need the love and support of people who care about them as individuals, who see their struggles and unique differences as strengths and assets, not behavioral challenges. This is one of the biggest reasons I wanted to become a teacher. I want to take all that I have learned from my own experiences, and help every student thrive and feel successful in school, no matter their needs.

I love to bake! Some people stress eat, I stress bake! Ok, ok, so truthfully I do both! There is something therapeutic about sharing something with another person, it certainly helps me stay grounded in life when I can connect and uplift others. I also love to travel and visit new places with my family. We love the outdoors. Our favorite family vacation spot is, of course, Disneyland! We are a family of Star Wars Junkies, and I know just about every Disney song by heart. Books are my other favorite hobby. I love to read all kinds of stories. Whether it is curling up outside in a hammock or on the sofa with a warm cup of tea, I love being able to open a book and visit new worlds and far-off places that only a story can take me to.

My greatest desire is for each student in my classroom to recognize how special they are for just being them. Each child is unique and special in their own right. They each have their own talents and abilities that should be shared with the world! I want my students to dream big dreams and try new things. I want to teach my students that there is power in making mistakes and learning to overcome them. Mistakes are what help us grow and learn. My greatest hope is that each student who enters my classroom leaves having learned to SOAR!
